A month ago, this room was filled with boxes. Now, it’s the quietest place in my home.
A month ago, my boss approved my request to work from home, and ever since then, I’ve been thinking about setting up a home office. I started by getting rid of things I didn’t need. Although there was a lot of clutter, at least it wasn’t dirty, which made cleaning up a bit easier. It took me a whole week just to organize the room because I bought a large cabinet on Amazon to sort and store all that clutter.

Next up are the decorations. I bought some houseplants—like pothos, ivy, monstera, and succulents—as well as candles and a table lamp to spruce up the room. They might not be very practical, but they really add to the atmosphere. I also bought a super comfortable sofa; when I get tired from work, I can lie down on it to rest. That said, I’m thinking of getting a new chair—this one isn’t very comfortable to sit in.

After finishing setting up the room, I realized there was still one problem left to solve: The desk still looked cluttered. The issue with charging cables had bothered me for quite some time—every time I saw all those cords on the desk, it inexplicably annoyed me, especially since I wasn’t the only one in the house who needed to charge devices. So I bought a 3-in-1 wireless charger that could charge my phone, earbuds, and watch, and also double as a stand. Eventually, I bought one for my wife as well, since she often uses her phone in landscape mode to watch videos while it’s charging.

Making myself a cup of coffee every day and watching the steam rise brings me such joy. I used to wonder why my neighbor always seemed so relaxed and at ease when working from home. Now I finally understand. What I want isn’t just a workspace—it’s a place that brings me peace, focus, and a sense of control. Working from home makes me feel relaxed, but a cozy work environment makes working there especially joyful.
