iPhone 13 screen replacement guide by Nixon from EXW
1. Pre-Installation Notes (Must Read)
For detailed installation video instructions, please scan the QR code below:

• Power Off: Ensure the device is completely shut down before starting.
• Transfer Components: The Face ID module and earpiece are original parts and must be transferred from the old screen to the new one; otherwise, Face ID will not work.
• Avoid Bending Cables: When connecting or disconnecting cables, operate horizontally. Do not pull or twist forcefully to prevent damage to the cables or motherboard connectors.
2. Steps to Remove the Old Screen
• Step 1: Remove the bottom Pentalobe screws.
• Use a Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws on either side of the Lightning port.
• Step 2: Heat the edges of the screen.
Use a heat gun or hairdryer to evenly heat the edges of the screen for 30 seconds to soften the adhesive and reduce the risk of damage when prying.
• Step 3: Separate the screen.
Attach a suction cup to the bottom of the screen, insert a pry tool into the corner, and gently slide it along the edges to release the clips. Open the screen from left to right, then separate it completely.
• Step 4: Disconnect the battery cable (Priority operation)
Remove the metal shield above the battery connector, gently pry up the battery cable with a pry tool to confirm power is disconnected.
• Step 5: Disconnect display/touch/front camera flex cables
Remove the remaining shield covers and disconnect the LCD, touch, and front camera flex cables in order.
3. Transferring Original Components
If the new screen does not come pre-installed with the earpiece, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, front camera, or Face ID components, follow these steps to transfer the original parts:
Step 1: Remove the earpiece and sensor assembly from the original screen
• Remove the metal cover of the top sensor module
• Gently pry the components upward from below using a pry tool to avoid damaging the adhesive and flex cables
Step 2: Install to new screen
• Align and secure components in their original positions, insert into corresponding slots, then fasten the metal cover using original screws.
Step 3: Remove old waterproof adhesive and install new waterproof adhesive
4. Connecting and Testing the New Screen
Step 1: Connect the flex cables (connect other cables first, then the battery).
Reconnect the front camera, touch, and display flex cables in order, followed by the battery cable.
Step 2: Secure the metal shield after powering off.
Reinstall the metal shield over the flex cables, ensuring the screws are aligned correctly.
Step 3: Close the screen.
Align the screen from the top and press it down gradually to avoid pinching any cables.
Step 4: Press the power button briefly to turn on the device and test the following:
Display brightness, color accuracy, and dead pixels
Touch responsiveness
Earpiece audio and front camera functionality
Proximity sensor (screen-off when covered)
Face ID recognition
If the screen remains black or unresponsive, check for loose flex cables and reconnect them if necessary.
Recommended testing time: 3–5 minutes to ensure stable operation.
Step 5: Reinstall the bottom screws.
Use a Pentalobe screwdriver to reattach the two bottom screws.
5. Troubleshooting Common Issues
Black screen or unresponsive touch: Check for loose or damaged flex cables. Verify the battery cable was connected before testing.
Face ID not working: Ensure the original Face ID module was transferred or inspect for damage during the process. Seek professional repair if needed.
Device fails to power on or restarts: Check the battery cable connection. Disconnect and reconnect it if necessary.
Abnormal display colors or brightness: Confirm the display flex cable is securely connected.
Screen lifting or poor adhesion: Inspect for trapped cables or incomplete screen pressing.
